Brief description During the early stages of the disease, before major cell loss, Alzheimer's disease targets synapses, the points of communication between neurons. Importantly, the degree of synaptic loss strongly correlates with the memory deficits found in Alzheimer's disease patients. In this project, we will evaluate the role of calcium-dependent signalling in mediating synaptic loss and cognitive deficits in Alzheimer's disease models.
