Riverine Plains reference paddocks for GRDC Machine Learning Project - raw and pre-processed datasets

Brief description

A dataset of 4 paddocks, each with crop yield data, crop yield zones, soil test data, EM38 data and within crop dry matter cuts and tiller counts. The 4 paddocks are from north-east Victoria and the southern Riverina of New South Wales. Data includes paddock boundaries, crop yield data from a harvester, yield zones derived from this crop yield data, soil test data, EM38 geophysical data and crop biomass and tiller count assessments. The dataset collection occurred between 2003 - 2018 with no time guarantee for any one paddock. The collection includes raw versions of these datasets and pre-processed versions of the datasets for compliance with Machine Learning analytics.

Full description

The collection includes raw and pre-processed data for machine learning compliance. It includes 4 paddocks with data including paddock boundaries, crop yield and yield zones, EM38 geophysics, soil tests and within crop assessments of biomass and tiller counts. The data accessible is inconsistent between the paddocks and has been acquired between 2003 and 2018. Data converted to standard csv machine-readable format with CRS included for all measurements. Includes pre-processed paddock measurments, Remote Sensing Data (Landsat) and climate data (BOM). Readme metadata documents of processed files to assist for ML purposes. Measurements re-scaled and spatially aligned using ordinary block kriging method using locally estimated variograms. The value at each grid point represents an average interpolated value within a 5-m block, centred at the grid point.

Riverine Plains with support from Federation University has prepared this data to be compliant with project needs. Data has been pre-processed to be ready for sharing under conditions established in the contract for the project 'Machine learning to extract maximum value from soil and crop variability - UOA2002-007RTX.'

Lineage

Data for the 4 paddocks has been collected for various purposes between 2003 and 2018, including crop yield data acquired by growers. Soil test data and in crop assessments of biomass and tiller counts were collected in 2017. EM38 data were acquired as part of between 2017 and 2019.
