Rickard Road upgrade : strategic route assessment : community consultation report

Brief description

Rickard Road between Bringelly Road, Leppington and Oran Park Drive, Catherine Field is proposed to be upgraded. On behalf of the Department of Planning, Infrastructure and Environment (DPIE), Transport for NSW (TfNSW) is investigating an upgrade and extension of Rickard Road for the section between Heath Road and Springfield Road.
Rickard Road is planned to be a key north-south transport link in the South West Growth Area. The recommended route option is located within the corridor identified in 2013 by DPIE and Camden Council for future development.
The key features of the upgrade would include: ?
* widening Rickard Road and providing a kerbside bus lane in each direction
* off-road pedestrian and cyclist pathways
* intersection upgrades with traffic lights and designated turning lanes ?
* bicycle and pedestrian crossing at traffic lights.
In June 2020, TfNSW consulted with the community on the recommended option for the proposed upgrade and extension in this section. See Attachment A ‘Community Update’, including a map and further information.
The consultation period on the recommended option was held between 8 June and 3 July 2020. TfNSW received 24 submissions from the community in response to the display of the preferred option. Key issues identified during consultation included road design, environmental impacts, property impacts and the timing of the project.
Feedback received during the public display has been considered in the decision making process, and the responses to the feedback are contained in this report.
