Full description
This collection consists of data collected in Singapore (2005-6) as part of the Learner's Perspective Study, a sixteen-country international project to document "well-taught" mathematics classrooms. Data was collected through the use of three cameras (on the teacher, class as a whole and a student group), supplemented by post-lesson video-stimulated interviews (audio and video records) with students and teachers, test data, teacher questionnaires, and copies of student and teacher written material. Data was collected from three schools and from a sequence of at least ten year 8 mathematics lessons in each school, which were generally focussed on the same topic e.g. algebra. This collection includes: video files (format: H.264); lesson materials (jpg, pdf), including a seating plan for the classroom with names of students (de-identified); lesson form table, a detailed deconstruction of the lesson; teacher questionnaire; time-coded transcriptions and translations (where relevant); student's work from the lesson (scanned pdf file); researcher field notes; consent forms; syllabus; school timetables; research team bi-annual meeting minutes. The collection is housed on RAID5 fibre channel array connected to the videoportal server. The ICCR also maintains hard copies (DVD/CD/Pocket Hard Disk) of all data as it was originally delivered.
