Brief description Despite improved diagnosis and increased use of antipsychotic medications the mortality risk in patients with schizophrenia remains 2-3 times that of the general population, largely due to cardiovascular disease development. In this project we will test the effectiveness of sympathetic nervous inhibition with moxonidine (as add on therapy) in alleviating the metabolic side effects of antipsychotic medications in patients with schizophrenia.
