Full description
This study aims to understand the role of genes in triggering the onset of a psychotic illness, and to identify biological and psychological markers of genetic risk for psychosis. Over 100 twin pairs with and without psychosis were recruited through clinical services and the Australian Twin Registry. These pairs have completed extensive brain imaging, neuropsychological and genetic assessments. Current analyses of these data are focusing on understanding how psychosis alters patterns of gene expression, and quantifying genetic influences on brain network organization. This project is being conducted in collaboration with The Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research. Recruitment for this study is now complete. MRI data is available for approximately 150 participants. Time Period: 1994-2008 Subjects
