Brief description Cancer of colon and rectum is the most common form of cancer in Australia with 12,000 people diagnosed each year. Of these, more than 4,000 people will die of their disease. Early detection of colorectal cancer (CRC) will significantly improve the patient outcomes and will reduce the human and financial burden this disease places on the community. This research project aim to discover new ways to detect CRC and develop blood-based assays. Validation of these assays will be performed in clinical studies using CRC patient samples.
