It is built and maintained by [Geoscape Australia](https://geoscape.com.au/) using authoritative government data. Further information about contributors to G-NAF is available [here](https://geoscape.com.au/legal/data-copyright-and-disclaimer/).\r\n\r\nG-NAF is one of the most ubiquitous and powerful spatial datasets. It contains more than 15 million Australian physical address records. The records include geocodes, which are latitude and longitude map coordinates. G-NAF does not contain personal information or details relating to individuals.\r\n\r\nUpdated versions of G-NAF are published on a quarterly basis.\r\n\r\nUsers have the option to download datasets with feature coordinates referencing either GDA94 or GDA2020 datums.\r\n\r\n**Changes in the November 2023 release**\r\n\r\n* Nationally, the November 2023 update of G-NAF shows an increase of 35,332 addresses overall (+0.23%). The total number of addresses in G-NAF now stands at 15,565,768 of which 14,738,853 or 94.69% are principal.\r\n\r\n* In the November 2023 update, Geoscape has retired some 4100 addresses in Tasmania and 600 in NSW that were provided by contributors. The addresses were retired following a review because they are considered to be either historical and have been replaced by other addresses or are “infill” addresses.\r\n\r\n* Cadastral shifts in Victoria has resulted in G-NAF addresses that were previously within the parcel, now lying within the abutting road casement. Approximately 1,000 addresses have been impacted in this way in the LGA’s of Glenelg, Golden Plains and Southern Grampians.\r\n\r\n* Approximately 60,000 addresses had a change in their legal_parcel_ids in Victoria as part of the November 2023 update.\r\n\r\n* The locality of Balmoral (primary postcode 2571) has undergone a name change to Balmoral Village but retains the same LOCALITY_PID,loc11112536618e.\r\n\r\n* From November 2023, Geoscape will be progressively moving product descriptions, guides and reports online to docs.geoscape.com.au. Commencing with the May 2024 release, data packages will no longer include the Documents folder.\r\n\r\n**Changes in the November 2022 release**\r\n\r\n* Nationally, the November 2022 update of G-NAF shows an increase of 42,093 addresses \r\noverall (+0.27%). The total number of addresses in G-NAF now stands at 15,399,579 of \r\nwhich 14,585,377 or 94.71% are principal.\r\n\r\n* Ongoing changes. End User Licence Agreement - Use of the G-NAF downloaded from data.gov.au is subject to this End User Licence Agreement (EULA)\r\n\r\nThe EULA terms are based on the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0). However, an important restriction relating to the use of the open G-NAF for the sending of mail has been added. \r\nThe open G-NAF data must not be used form the generation of an address or a compilation or address for the sending of mail unless the user has verified that each address to be used for the sending of mail is capable of receiving mail by reference to a secondary source of information.
