Brief description We plan a study where Indigenous pregnant women will be immunised with a licensed vaccine to determine if it prevents acute lung infections in their children. A randomised design will be used based on our previous work. We will also undertake 2 novel sub-studies on infant immune function and reasons why women refuse immunisation. If successful, this study will alter immunisation policy and prevent lung infections and future chronic lung diseases that are common in Indigenous children and adults.
