Brief description Age, sex, smoking, blood pressure and cholesterol level are risk factors for the development of heart disease. Most adults belong to an intermediate-risk group in which the predictive power of current risk factors is low. Most heart attacks occur in this group. Consequently, many individuals at risk are not properly identified nor treated appropriately. We are developing a new test to accurately assess risk of a future heart attack that will address this deficiency in our health system.
