The Paynesville Sewerage District was proclaimed and the Paynesville Sewerage Authority constituted under the provisions of the Sewerage Districts Act on 10 July 1979.The first meeting was held on 17 October 1979. The last meeting under that name was held on 20 January 1982.
The Governor-in-Council by Order dated 3 February 1982 approved the Paynesville Sewerage Authority altering its name to the Paynesville and Lindenow Sewerage Authority.
The first meeting of the Paynesville and Lindenow Sewerage Authority was held on 10 March 1982. The final meeting was held on 27 June 1984.
Water Reform
Under Section 8 of the Water and Sewerage Authorities (Restructuring) Act 1983 (No. 9895) many Waterworks Trusts and Sewerage Authorities were abolished. Water Boards replaced Waterworks Trusts and Sewerage Authorities, or the functions were transferred to Municipalities. Further reforms in the 1990's led to the amalgamation of many of the Water Boards created after 1983.
Abolition
In 1984, the Authority was abolished and its function was transferred to the Mitchell Water Board as of 1 July 1984.
