Full description
The Pathways in Aged Care (PIAC) link map is a data asset derived by linking aged care activity data from the National Aged Care Data Clearinghouse (NACDC) and death records from the National Death Index (NDI). It includes activity data for home support, home care, residential care, transition care and aged care eligibility assessments. PIAC is suitable for person-based analysis of aged care pathways and patterns of program use over time. It links data from different aged care programs that do not use a common person identifier, enabling people’s care use to be tracked across services. Derived analysis data sets are available for recipient demographics, event sequence and service locations. The PIAC link map includes all people who used Australian Government-funded aged care services – including home support, home care, residential care, transition care, short term restorative care and aged care eligibility assessments – between 1 July 1997 and 30 June 2022. It includes death records for anyone in the cohort who died between 1 July 1997 and 31 December 2022.
