The base of the core is found to reach the oxygen isotope stage 3-4 boundary. \n\nThe core is considered to have lost the uppermost section of the core that converts the last 3kyr against the SPECMAP stack. The results also indicate that the Holocene period has the highest rates of sedimentation observed through time. Core MD88-784 was recovered during the French ASPARA IV cruise in 1988, aboard the Marion Dufresne.
