Full description
The model is described in Stone et al. (2016) - see below for this reference. Five runs have been undertaken - REF-C1, REF-C2, SEN-C2-fODS, SEN-C2-fGHG and REF-C1-Special. These runs, with the exception of REF-C1-Special are described in Eyring et al. (2013; http://www.geo.fu-berlin.de/met/ag/strat/publikationen/docs/Eyring-et-al_SPARC-Newsletter40.pdf). REF-C1-Special is a run from 1960-2010 with evolving greenhouse gases but ozone depleting substances fixed at 1960 levels. The output of the model consists of raw files in 'PP' format (http://badc.nerc.ac.uk/help/formats/pp-format/) and NetCDF-4 (http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/netcdf/). The original PP files are held in TAR and GZ archives. The NetCDF files have been processed using Interactive Data Language (IDL) to produced analysed output which are held as IDL Savesets and text files.

PurposeThe data described here were prepared for the Chemistry-Climate Model Intercomparison project phase 1 (see http://blogs.reading.ac.uk/ccmi/), and are also available at the British Atmospheric Data Centre (http://blogs.reading.ac.uk/ccmi/badc-data-access/). The primary use of the data in AAS 4012 is to evaluate the sensitivity of Antarctic surface climate (e.g. temperature, wind speed, precipitation, etc.) to changes in stratospheric ozone.
