S. J. Volcano Plots Emerge from a Sea of Nonaqueous Solvents: The Law of Matching Water Affinities Extends to All Solvents. ACS Central Science 2018 4 (8), 1056-1064. DOI: 10.1021/acscentsci.8b00348; and is also referred to in Virginia Mazzini's PhD Thesis (available for download at http://hdl.handle.net/1885/144595 ). This database is a collection of the published experimental data regarding the osmotic and activity coefficients of binary electrolyte solutions (mostly 1:1 electrolytes) in non-aqueous solvents. This database focuses on experimental data at 298.15 K, but additional temperatures are included if present in the original publication. For each electrolyte in each solvent, the database lists the osmotic and/or activity coefficient (depending on what the authors measured and calculated in the literature reference) at the indicated concentration and temperature. If the original authors had fitted the data with the Pitzer or Pitzer-Archer model in their publication, the fitting coefficients they obtained are included. The data in Bonner1969 were calculated using a cryoscopic constant for ethylene carbonate that is now out of date. Better to recalculate the osmotic and activity coefficients of the publication using an up-to date cryoscopic constant value. This database contains data on binary electrolyte solutions in the following solvents: 2-propanol (propan-2-ol), acetone (propan-2-one), N,N-dimethylacetamide, dimethyl carbonate, dimethoxyethane (1,2-dimethoxyethane), N,N-dimethylformamide (short DMF), dimethyl sulfoxide (short DMSO), ethylene carbonate (1,3-dioxolan-2-one), ethanol, acetonitrile, methanol, N-methylacetamide, N-methylformamide (short NMF), propylene carbonate (4-methyl-1,3-dioxolan-2-one), sulfolane (tetrahydrothiophene 1,1-dioxide). This database contains data on the following salts in non-aqueous solvents: tetrabutylammonium bromide, tetrabutylammonium chloride, tetrabutylammonium perchlorate, tetrabutylammonium iodide, cesium bromide, cesium chloride, cesium iodide, tetraethylammonium bromide, tetraethylammonium chloride, tetraethylammonium iodide, potassium bromide, potassium chloride, potassium perchlorate, potassium iodide, potassium nitrate, potassium acetate, potassium propionate, potassium thiocyanate, lithium bromide, lithium chloride, lithium perchlorate, lithium formate, lithium iodide, lithium nitrate, lithium acetate, lithium propionate, tetramethylguanidinium chloride, tetramethylguanidinium perchlorate, tetramethylammonium bromide, tetramethylammonium chloride, sodium bromide, sodium chloride, sodium perchlorate, sodium formate, sodium iodide, sodium nitrate, sodium acetate, sodium propionate, sodium thiocyanate, ammonium chloride, ammonium iodide, ammonium thiocyanate, tetrapentylammonium bromide, tetrapropylammonium bromide, tetrapropylammonium chloride, tetrapropylammonium iodide, rubidium perchlorate, rubidium iodide, zinc chloride, zinc iodide.&rft.creator=Mazzini, Virginia &rft.creator=Craig, Vincent &rft.date=2019&rft.relation=10.1021/acscentsci.8b00348&rft.relation=http://hdl.handle.net/1885/144595&rft_rights=This data is provided and shared for non-commercial use.
