Brief description
High resolution (0.5m ground sample distance) ortho-rectified aerial imagery over the Perth Metropolitan coastal waters. The coverage extends from 3km north of Two Rocks to 3km south of Becher Point. The seaward extent is on average 6km, contains the 20m isobath and includes Rottnest Island. Photography capture was undertaken during favourable atmospheric and oceanographic conditions, allowing excellent light penetration through the water column, yielding high quality imagery of benthic habitats in the region.Lineage
Statement: The imagery was captured on 4 and 5 March 2008 by Fugro Spatial Solutions Pty Ltd, Capture times were limited to a fixed window, characterised by meteorologic, atmospheric and oceanographic conditions, to minimize sun glint and maximise light penetration through the water column. The imagery was captured as colour vertical aerial photography using an aircraft-mounted Leica RC30 (lens number 13213) camera with a focal length of 152.87 mm. The photography has a nominal capture scale of 1:25,000 and was triangulated and adjusted with ORIMA GPS bundle adjustment software. The original negatives were scanned on a Leica DSW600 photogrammetric scanner in 24 bit colour at a resolution of 15microns. The resultant pixel resolution was 0.375m x 0.375m. Scanned raster images were then ortho-rectified using Leica Socet Mosaic Manager/ Intergraph OrthoPro software. The extracted images were mosaiced using Leica Socet Mosaic Manager/ Microstation GeoMedia and Intergraph OrthoPro software. The resulting imagery has a GSD of 0.5m. 0.5m ground resolution with +/- 5m pos accuracy.Created: 13 02 2009
