NSW Biosecurity Information System - Weeds

Brief description

The BIS Weeds system accepts records for state priority weeds regulated under the NSW Biosecurity Act 2015, regional priority weeds listed in Appendix 1.2 of the 11 NSW Local Land Services Regional Strategic Weed Management Plans, and other weeds with profiles in NSW WeedWise. These records are generalised and not specific to an exact location. This data is provided to assist with monitoring and evaluation of weed extents at a regional and state level. This generalised data is already publicly available for each weed species on NSW WeedWise at https://weeds.dpi.nsw.gov.au. NSW land owners, managers and occupiers are encouraged to visit NSW WeedWise (through the website or though an app on their smart device), to view additional information relating to the Biosecurity obligations, management advice and general information on each weed species. In NSW, for further technical advice and assistance with identification and management of these weeds, please contact your local council biosecurity (weeds) officer. Use of this data and publications must cite: NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (2024). Weed location data collected by Local Control Authorities for Weeds under Section 371(e) of the NSW Biosecurity Act 2015 and submitted to NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development into the Biosecurity Information System (BIS - Weeds) in line with the NSW BIS Weeds Data Standard (November 2021)
