Researchers: Dr Connie Wong (Principal investigator)

Brief description Infection is a common and fatal complication of stroke. With the escalating problem of antibiotic-resistance, new therapeutic approaches are urgently needed. Research from my laboratory shows that stroke not only damages the brain, but also weakens host antibacterial defence. I will use innovative methods to identify signalling pathways that underlie immune dysfunction. The results will allow us to develop novel strategies for strengthening host immunity and improve stroke outcomes.
