Compiled from a series of on-ground terrestrial surveys undertaken in the Northern Gulf NRM Region, employing standardised methods to investigate and recommend a methodology for monitoring biodiversity condition in the Northern Gulf grazing lands. The surveys specifically measured species and which species preferred different landtypes. Also recorded was habitat attributes including tree diversity, cover, species richness and woody debris. This dataset only contains fauna data and not habitat or flora data. This dataset was created to help understand how to manage and maintain and monitor biodiversity values within grazing systems. Once the fauna data from the on ground surveys was compiled there followed testing against biodiversity condition assessment metrics. The dataset includes terrestrial fauna information from the Northern Gulf NRM Region and includes four bioregions: Gulf Plains, Einasleigh Uplands, Wet Tropics and Cape York Peninsular. 287 sites were surveyed on ten land types, 111 quadrats were surveyed twice resulting in a total number of 398 quadrats. Study sites were chosen within Land types and related to available Regional Ecosystem information at the time. Land Types are as categorised by DEEDI through research incorporating local knowledge. The regional ecosystem data is still not complete. Data was desensitized by intersecting point observations with IBRA 6.1 subregions shapefile. Therefore the centroid of the polygon is not the location of the species. Data was collected due to the support provided by the Australian Government's Natural Heritage Trust and Q2 Coasts and Country programme. &rft.creator=Anonymous&rft.date=2025&rft_rights=&rft.type=dataset&rft.language=English Access the data

Brief description

Contains data on terrestrial vertebrate fauna of Queensland. The regional ecosystem data is still not complete. Data was desensitized by intersecting point observations with IBRA 6.1 subregions shapefile. Therefore the centroid of the polygon is not the location of the species.
