Brief description

This data package contains nitrous oxide flux data as well as relevant soil and crop production parameters for a wheat crop grown at Vectis, Victoria, Australia in 2014. These measurements were undertaken as part of the 'Improving nitrous oxide abatement in high rainfall cropping systems' project. The objectives of this project are: - To evaluate the effectiveness of different nitrogen abatement management strategies (including nitrification and urease inhibitors and timing of fertiliser applications) on crop nitrogen uptake and losses as nitrous oxide and other forms of nitrogen from the soil:plant system. - To assess the responsiveness of grain crops in south-east Australia to nitrogen fertiliser applications in relation to different soil organic matter and nitrogen levels. The data is separated into four broad categories:
1) Climate data for the 2014 season.
2) Soil description including key physical and chemical parameters and land use history.
3) Nitrous oxide flux data including soil monitoring at the time of sampling.
4) Crop production data.
