Brief description
Floods, bushfires, cyclones, and drought have always been a part of the Australian landscape, and in recent times hazards like the COVID-19 pandemic have significantly impacted our way of life. Some have had to deal with disasters in rapid succession, such as devastating floods or bushfires after years of drought. The National Recovery and Resilience Agency was established in response to the Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements.
Led by the Hon Shane L Stone AC QC, we support communities impacted by disaster, with a strong on-the-ground presence and a guiding principle of locally-led recovery. We also deliver initiatives to reduce risk and lessen the impacts of future shocks.
Our Agency combines expertise in natural disaster response, recovery and resilience, working with affected communities and all levels of government and industry.
