The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) Coelenterate Collection, established in 1981, consists of about 17,000 databased specimens. The collection mainly focuses on shallow water tropical species from Northern Australia and the Indo-Pacific, but also includes some deep water material from Southern Australia. The collection also includes a small amount of comparative material from the rest of the world. The collection includes 141 holotypes and 463 paratypes. Specimens can be lent to workers at other institutions upon application and the MAGNT also welcomes visiting researchers.
