Ian Macadam has a BSc in Physics from Imperial College, London and an MSc in Weather, Climate and Modelling from the University of Reading. Between 1998 and 2005 he was employed by the UK Met Office. In 2005 he moved to CSIRO’s climate impacts group before becoming a PhD student at the University of New South Wales Climate Change Research Centre in 2009. During 2012, he was employed by the Australian Research Council's Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science as a project manager.

Ian Macadam is currently a PhD student at the University of New South Wales Climate Change Research Centre. His research is concerned with projections of future regional climate conditions, specifically those generated for the purpose of informing studies of climate change impacts. The work uses the impact of climate change on wheat cropping in New South Wales as a case study.
