Professor Moyez Jiwa qualified as a general practitioner in 1991 and have 20 years of clinical experience in a variety of clinical settings including rural South West Scotland, rural Nottinghamshire and urban Yorkshire, UK. He now practices in an area of need in outer metropolitan Perth, WA. In 2003 he was awarded an MD from the University of Sheffield, UK. In 2005 he served as Director of Research and Development for a UK NHS Hospitals Trust. After arriving in Australia in 2006 he was appointed as the Director of the WA Centre for Cancer and Palliative Care in 2006 and is now the inaugural Chair of Health Innovation, Curtin University, Perth WA. Prof. Jiwa been awarded $1,552,242 in NHMRC grants as chief Investigator and $2,728,451 in other competitive grant awards since 2006, he has published 60 peer reviewed papers, continues to mentor students and colleagues at every level and serve the general practice community and on a variety of forums, both nationally and internationally.
