The Motor Accidents Act 1973 which received Royal Assent in April 1973 provided for the appointment of the Motor Accidents Board in September 1973.Upon the proclamation of the Transport Accidents Act 1986 on 23 December 1986 the Motor Accidents Board was superseded by the Transport Accident Commission (VA 2892).
