Brief description We identified that mice bred to have high blood pressure have an overactive nervous system due to a faulty molecule in a distinct region of the brain. The high nervous activity affects the kidney and leads to high blood pressure. The proposal will determine the effects of a novel treatment to reverse the changes in the brain and thereby normalize blood pressure. This will lead to new therapy opportunities and reduce the major risk factor of cardiovascular disease.
