Brief description

Metadata record for data from ASAC Project 2509
See the link below for public details on this project.

This project studied the limnology of lakes in the Framnes Mountains and Stillwell Hills near Mawson Station. Present-day chemical, biological and physical characteristics of the lakes were measured, and sediment cores were collected to determine how the lake environments have developed since the lakes were formed.

Data were collected with a Hydrolab 4 profiler.
Given for each lake is the date of sampling, the location of the sampling site, and the thickness of the ice.
Profiles of temperature (degrees C), pH, conductivity (microS/cm - microsiemens per centimetre), concentration of dissolved oxygen (DO, unit mg/L) and the percentage saturation of dissolved oxygen are given below.
The zero point for all the profile was the water level in the hole through the ice.

The fields in this dataset are:

Lake
Date
Latitude
Longitude
Ice Thickness (m)
Depth (m)
Water Temperature (degrees C)
pH
Conductivity
Dissolved Oxygen concentration
Dissolved Oxygen saturation
