This data package contains materials supplementary to Methodological sensitivity in composite spatial heat vulnerability indices and implications for decision-making available as a preprint https://dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.7467835
This work has evolved over multiple iterations, including a CPGIS Student Paper Competition presentation at the 33rd International Conference on Geoinformatics 2026.
This data package contains the following:
Jupyter processing notebooks for each spatial composition framework to perform normalisation, weighting, generate the sub-indices and resultant composite heat vulnerability indices, and perform consensus agreement.
/Figures
- Supplementary figures of the HVI spatial distribution for each city-weighting-composition combination.
/Google Earth Engine Scripts
- Google Earth Engine scripts in JavaScript format to generate Landsat 8/9 LST, Sentinel 2 NDVI and NDBI, WorldPop total population, and WorldPop vulnerable population.
/Input Data
- All spatial data inputs in GeoTIFF format; Land Surface Temperature (LST), Population Density (POPD), Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Normalised Difference Built-Up Index (NDBI), Vulnerable Population (POPV), Index of Relative Socio-economic Advantage and Disadvantage (IRSAD).
- Census data packs in GPKG format containing input data for POPD, POV and IRSAD under Administrative Boundaries (AB) composition.
/Processing Outputs
- All sub-indices for each spatial weighting technique and each spatial composition framework in GeoTIFF format; Heat Exposure Index (HEI_EQW, HEI_ENW, HEI_PCA), Heat Sensitivity Index (HSI_EQW, HSI_ENW, HSI_PCA), Adapative Capability Index (ACI_EQW, ACI_ENW, ACI_PCA).
- Final composite heat vulnerability index for each weighting technique and spatial composition framework in GeoTIFF format; Heat Vulnerability Index (HVI_EQW, HVI_ENW, HVI_PCA).
- Administrative Boundaries (AB) composition output in GPKG format with all relevant attributes.
- Statistical summaries in Text File format.
