Full description

The dataset contains mineralogical and geochemical data of ironstones from Northern Australia. The samples were collected from drill cores from the Constance Range area in Queensland, the Sherwin and Roper bar mine in Northern Territory and the Urapunga 5 drill core from Northern Territory. The hand specimens were crushed and milled in the mineral separation laboratory at James Cook University. Major element and XRD data were produced at the University of Tasmania after Watson (1996). Trace element and isotope compositions were measured at the Advanced Analytical Centre at James Cook University. The trace element analysis was conducted using a Thermo Fisher Scientific iCAP TQ-ICP-MS following the method described in Russo et al., (2024). Fe isotope ratios were determined using a Thermo Fisher Scientific Neptune following the procedure described in McCoy-West et al., (2025).
