The Blood and Bleeding Equipment collection at the medical History Museum holds over 50 items including cautery instruments; snake-bite treatments; scarifiers; lancets; cupping glasses; blood letting sets; and tourniquets. Dr. James Jamieson's medical bag includes a 'percusso' punctuator made by Mayer and Meltzer and a fleam with tortoise shell handle. Other items of interest include a Corrigan cautery set on sale in 1906, a Scarificator with twelve spring loaded blades, and an artificial leech with steel blade and suction tubes made by J. G. Birck, Berlin.Significance
