Media Course Guides in Australian Tertiary Education Collection

A collection of tertiary media course guides from the 1980s until now. These guides were provided to students at the beginning of their course so that they had on hand the requirements to successfully complete their course. The guides include such information as due dates for submission of essays and exams, lecture topics, recommended reading for assignments and films or television shows to watch. The reason behind collecting these course guides is that there is a record of the types of media courses taught in Australian tertiary institutions. This can be used to track changes in themes, films and TV shows taught over the years. The topics of the guides we currently hold are mainly in the areas of cinema studies and television studies. The course guides are mainly from RMIT University and Monash University, with some other material provided from other institutions including: Melbourne University, La Trobe University, and the Victorian College of the Arts. This collection (which we hope will grow with donations from other academics/students) was originally begun from a donation by Deb Verhoeven.
