The multispectral and panchromatic images were georeferenced using the satellite ephemeris data and projected to UTM zone 43S before the pan sharpening was done. The features were interpreted and digitised from the satellite image in ArcGIS 8.3 by Henk Brolsma (Mapping Officer AAD). The coastline was digitised at 1:3000, except for offshore rocks which were digitised at larger scales. The areas of bare rock on McDonald Island were digitised at 1:2000 or, for the smaller areas, at scales ranging from 1:1000 to 1:500. The ridgelines were digitised at scales ranging from 1:3000 to 1:1000. Coastline, ridgelines and areas of bare rock of McDonald Islands were digitised from a pan sharpened image derived from multispectral and panchromatic Digital Globe Quickbird satellite imagery acquired 9 April 2003.
