The positional accuracy of well defined features is +/-0.2m in the horizontal and +/-0.1m in the vertical. Aerial Photographs were acquired with an Australian Antarctic Division Aerial Camera - Zeiss UMK1318 (Ser# 7389978-1993) mounted on a helicopter. The Antarctic Division film number is ANTC1019 and the runs within that film are 1A, 1B and 1C. The photography was acquired from a height of 650m (agl) and was acquired on 4 December 1994. Photogrammetric data capture was undertaken in June 1995 and was supplemented for attribution purposes from the Macquarie Is. Station Plan (ACS drawing V89/280-1). Full description

The Macquarie Island Station Area GIS Dataset is a topographic and facilities data base covering Australia's Macquarie Island Station and its immediate environs. The database includes all man made and natural features within the operational area of the station proper. Attributes are held for many facilities including, buildings, site services, communications, fuel storage, aeronautical and management zones. The spatial data have been compiled from low level aerial photography, ground surveys and engineering plans. Detail attribution of hydraulic site services includes make, size and engineering plan number.

The dataset conforms to the SCAR Feature Catalogue which includes data quality information.

The data is included in the data available for download from a Related URL below.
The data conforms to the SCAR Feature Catalogue which includes data quality information. See a Related URL below.
Data described by this metadata record has Dataset_id = 25.
Each feature has a Qinfo number which, when entered at the 'Search datasets & quality' tab, provides data quality information for the feature.

Changes have occurred at the station since this dataset was produced. For example some buildings and other structures have been removed and some added.
As a result the data available for download from a Related URL below is updated with new data having different Dataset_id(s).

Statement: The database does not extend to the limits of the Station area. These data have been sourced from low level aerial photography of the station and from ground surveys. The ground surveys were conducted after the aerial photography, thus they are update surveys only. The underground services were sourced from schematic diagrams held by AAD Engineering Section. All layers have been checked for topological errors. The database has been checked to ensure that layers overlap and/or abutt as appropriate.
