Brief description

A database containing sounding data around Macquarie Island.
Track line data for each data source is included.

Lineage

Progress Code: onGoing
Statement: The are very large areas within the bounding box for which there is no data. These data have been acquired by the former Division of National Mapping, Antarctic Division and NOAA (USA) as soundings and side scan sonar surveys. The Antarctic Division sounding surveys have been filtered for navigation errors and bad soundings. These data have also been point reduced so that only the deepest and shallowest are present each 2500 metre interval. The Antarctic Division and NOAA data have been positioned using C/A code GPS and as such are +/-100m 95% of the time horizontally. The vertical accuracy is unknown. The National Mapping data are believed to have been positioned by Doppler Satellite navigation and dead reckoning.
