The collection comprises some 250 prints and manuscripts dating from the 15th to the early 19th centuries. The manuscripts are chiefly of works by Australian composers from the colonial period to the present day, while the printed music includes many early and rare editions of European composers from Corelli to Stravinsky. It is also particularly notable for its collection of French operatic works, British publications, works of the Italian renaissance and books on music theory.
