Brief description More than one quarter of Australian children have some form of allergic disease (asthma, eczema, hay-fever or food allergy), despite which the causes of allergy remain poorly understood. The Melbourne Atopy Cohort Study has followed a group of 620 high-risk children from birth to 10 years. This proposal will look at the natural history of asthma and wheeze in this group and will try to clarify the relationships between early life exposures and the occurrence and persistence of childhood asthma.
