Brief description This collaboration between Maptek (an Australian owned company) and researchers from the Universities of Adelaide and Macquarie will develop a new class of eye-safe compact laser capable of next generation, high resolution 3D laser surveying. This builds on our recently patented ‘chip’ laser which is suited for short-pulse, high repetition-rate operation, and we have recently demonstrated this compact architecture can achieve high peak-power and high-efficiency. Maptek has an established range of laser radar products, and is a major player in the mining market. Their aim for next generation radar systems requires lasers with specifications well beyond any commercially available sources.
