Brief description The project’s aim is to develop next-generation energy harvesting clear glass panels capable of harvesting and routing a significant part of solar UV and infrared radiations towards the panel edges for subsequent conversion to electricity. The outcome is a new enabling technology for green energy generation and energy savings based on the use of functional materials and advanced optical structures to prevent unwanted (UV and IR) solar radiations from entering buildings and convert them to electricity at the edges of the glass whilst allowing the natural light through. Such glass panels also significantly reduce radiative heat loads inside buildings.
