Brief description The project aims to achieve a breakthrough in the economic viability of wave power by the development of novel control strategies that will allow a step-change in the efficiency of a novel bi-directional turbine. More specifically, this project aims to develop a control strategy based on impedance-matching and latching control to improve the efficiency of the patented variable pitch, low pressure, and bidirectional flow turbine of industry partner Oceanlinx. Hence it aims to make a step-change in performance of the least efficient component of oscillating water column (OWC) systems, which are the leading form of wave-power converter.
