Brief description Development of a Universal Super Transmission Electron Microscope. This project aims to design a universal super-high resolution transmission electron microscope that will enable fast snapshots of dynamic processes at the nanometre to picometre scale. This project will pioneer methods to image any material at atomic resolution, and to trace its transient temporal-resolved behaviour at the same time as measuring its chemical, mechanical, physical, electrical and thermal properties with optical manipulation using state-of-the-art in situ sample holders. The new facility will provide unique advanced capability for the Australian materials science and engineering research community to directly observe, study and characterise many complex processes that elucidate the structure-property relationship for a wide range of materials.
