Full description

Establishment

The Lincoln Institute of Health Sciences began informally as Lincoln House when the government bought the Lincoln House building in 1966. Lincoln House incorporated the training schools of the professions of occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech therapy. Each of these schools was affiliated with the Victoria Institute of Colleges, operating under the Victoria Institute of Colleges Act 1965.

The Institute began formally in 1972 with the Constitution of [a] Council to Manage and Control the Lincoln Institute which was established by order of the Governor on 19 December 1972, and formally proclaimed in the Government Gazette on 20 December 1972.

The Institute amalgamated with La Trobe University in 1987 following the La Trobe University Amendment Act 1987 (No.87).
