The Library Council of Victoria was constituted on 13 April 1966 under the Library Council of Victoria Act 1965. The Library Council became the successor in law of the Trustees of the State Library of Victoria and the Free Library Service Board.The Library Council was succeeded by the Council of the State Library of Victoria (VA 3151) in May 1989.
