Full description
Lexton was created as a District on 17 February 1860. It was proclaimed a Shire on 30 June 1864. It was redefined by part of Avoca Shire being annexed in January 1941. It underwent a re-subdivision of ridings on 1 April 1888. It was redefined on 13 February 1991. It ceased to exist when the Pyrenees Shire was proclaimed in 1994.
