Full description
Outflows play a significant role in the evolution of galaxies, especially the AGN-driven outflows which are a major source of feedback, by driving gas outward and coupling the energy released into the interstellar medium (ISM). To date, many properties of outflows still remain uncertain due to the limitation of spatial resolution. One effective way for studying outflows is to observe the blueshifted and broad HI absorption against strong radio continuum. UGC 6081 is a Luminous Infrared Galaxy (LIRG) showing blueshifted and broad HI absorption indicating outflow in previous studies. However, due to the spatial resolution limitation, the properties of the outflow and its impact on the host galaxy can not be well understood. Therefore, we propose to use the Long Baseline Array to observe this source. The high spatial resolution could help us characterise the outflow spatial extent, outflow mass, outflow mass rate, and kinematics of the neutral hydrogen outflow in UGC 6081. In total, we request 8 hours for on-source and overheads. So far, the number of spatially resolved studies of neutral hydrogen outflow is quiet small, this source could help us gain more insights on the feedback in bright radio sources.Available: 2024-04-19
