Langley (Primary School No. 2489; previously known as Green Hill Emberton 1882-1885)

Langley Primary School opened on 30 August 1882 as Green Hill State School No. 2489. Shortly after the name was changed to Langley, as the school was quite far from Greenhill.

The school was opened because three existing schools in the area – Green Hills No. 277, Barfold No. 703, and Black Hill No. 1275 – were deemed too far away for the students.

The school was built on a site on the north-east corner of Allotment 41 in the Parish of Metcalf. Langley replaced Barfold school, which closed not long after Langley opened. 

Due to low enrolment, Langley Primary School closed permanently on 8 July 1902. 

School No. 1275 still operates and is now known as Langley Primary School.
