Some entries also contain statements drafted by the entrant which explained the concept behind the idea.Each entry also contains a tear-off strip printed with the official registration number allocated to it. This series consists of the entries received by the Landmark Competition Committee, Projects Group, Department of the Premier during 1979 for a competition for a Melbourne landmark. The Victorian Government launched the competition in 1978 which sought ideas for a landmark to be constructed in the area of the Jolimont Railway Yards in Melbourne. The competition was publicised worldwide and approximately 2000 entries were subsequently received.
