Brief description

Four locations along the Kimberley coast were video and depth surveyed to describe the substratum type, biohabitat type and the bathymetry of the seabed. Video and depth data was collected between 9 - 29 June 2008 from the vicinity of Gourdon Bay, Quondong – Coulomb Point, Perpendicular Head and Packer Island. Depth sounding data and tide-gauge data were analysed to generate tide-height corrected bathymetric contour maps for the four survey locations. These maps were used by the Northern Development Taskforce as part of a selection process to rank the suitability of a range of locations for a proposed common-user liquefied natural gas hub precinct.

Lineage

Statement: Raw electronic data files containing position, depth, date and time and tide height data recorded from vessel GPS and singlebeam echosounders and tide gauges. Summary electronic data files containing GPS vessel tracks, tide gauge data and tide-height correction data for the four locations. For more detailed methods refer to final report via the link to parent metadata record above.
