For Jennifer Deger making is thinking. She works at the intersection of art, ethnography and the environmental humanities, makes filming, curating exhibitions, and designing websites. She writes on photography, aesthetics, film, contemporary Aboriginal societies, digital culture, art, ethnographic film and the Anthropocene.As a founding member of Miyarrka Media, a collective based in the community of Gapuwiyak, NT, Jennifer's practice-led research claims creativity as a critical mode of social engagement and analysis. With MIyarrka Media Jennifer has co-directed several award winning films and co-curated experimental exhibitions in Denmark, the US and Australia.
