Jack Adrian Clapin was born on 11 April 1901 at Marrickville, the son of William Ernest and Marie Louisa Clapin. He was educated at Sydney Church of England Grammar School. (1)Clapin was admitted as a Solicitor on 31 August 1923 and to the New South Wales BarĀ on 13 February 1936. (2)
During World War II, he served initially with the Volunteer Defence Corps from 6 January 1942, and from 13 July 1942 with the Royal Australian Air Force. He was a Squadron Leader with the 4 Maintenance Group Headquarters when discharged on 30 June 1946. (3)
On 4 October 1960 Clapin was appointed a Judge of all District Courts and Chairman of all Quarter Sessions. (4)
Clapin died suddenly at Newcastle on 17 November 1969, survived by his wife Eleanor Penn nee Bradly, whom he married on 30 November 1927, and two sons. (5)
