Brief description

Joseph Maiden became the Curator of the new Technological Museum, Sydney in 1880 and in 1896 Director of the Botanic Gardens and New South Wales Government Botanist. He wrote several major books on Australian botany and founded the National Herbarium, Sydney in 1901. Joseph Maiden, alone and in collaboration with other botanists, described many Australian plant species, including eucalypts.
